What sets Gebhardt Homes apart from other contractors in the Edwardsville area?

I really like to think outside of the box, which is reflected in my designs and finishes. Each home takes on a unique personality for me (as it does for you), and I try to incorporate that into each home. My personal commitment is apparent to most who see my homes and to all who build with me. I am an open book, and I get as excited about your home as you do! I am in very close communication with all of my clients throughout the entire building process and make myself as accessible as possible to them.

Why should we consider building a new home rather than buying one that is already built?

It's all about character and the ability to build exactly what you want rather than compromise on layout and finishes…this home was built exactly for you!  You select the design and features YOU want included in your home. Also the ability to incorporate the most current energy efficiency and low maintenance features will save on utilities and upkeep.

What if I have specific needs or wants for the materials in my home?

Be open with me about what you have in mind, and the sooner the better. I am happy to accommodate my clients' requests for any special materials or amenities. This is a true, custom home, so every inch of it should to be tailored to you.

Is Gebhardt Homes a "green" builder?

Yes! Gebhardt Homes is a member of The Green Building Initiative (GBI), whose mission is to utilize building practices that result in energy-efficient, healthier and environmentally sustainable buildings.  We also try to be earth friendly as possible by recycling everything that we able, even donating materials that we don't use to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore program so that they may be reused by others in need.  Gebhardt Homes believes in being a responsible member of the planet and builds custom homes with this in mind.

How long does it take to get a home designed and built?

The design process can take as little as a week or as much as 6-8 weeks, depending on our schedules and how quickly we are able to communicate changes. Add another month for permitting/financing, and then as little as 12 weeks to as much as 6 months for construction.  Everything varies greatly depending on the complexity of the home.

Is it OK to visit my home while it’s under construction?

Yes! Every day if you wish. Ask questions, take pictures…it is your home and if it were mine, you couldn’t keep me away from the excitement of the daily progress!

Do you give free estimates?

If you come to me with plans, estimates are free. I prefer to design my own homes, though, and with that I require a small retainer to get started on the design process which becomes part of your deposit for the home so it is never lost.

What is the Warranty on your homes?

I provide a 1 year warranty on my homes. There are a few items that will have an extended warranty either provided through my contractors or our manufacturers.

What is the best piece of advice Gebhardt Homes can give someone who is interested in building a custom home?

Find a builder that you can connect with, that is on the same page as you and has the same vision as you for your new home. Try to balance size with the features you want, and try not to focus too much on square footage.  The right design can make a smaller home feel like a larger one and the finishes & amenities make all the difference in everyday living.
